customers. The management team should have made sure that users received a
warning about a particular file being deleted. McAfee claimed the problem
resulted from “inadequate coverage of product of product and operating systems
used.”

team tried to hide their. This attitude made customers angry. However, in this
case it could be assumed that to delay disclosing would be acceptable because
if McAfee’s stock went down suddenly, other companies might be influenced and the
stock market would be disrupted. McAfee has a lot of investors and they have to
protect their stakeholders. McAfee might have created a situation where stakeholders
would sell their stock. There were some factors that explain their evasive behavior.

What should McAfee do
in the future to avoid similar problems?
Simply, they should
conduct tests of operating systems and McAfee product versions with adequate
coverage of product and operating systems in the test systems used.
